Guangzhou Broadcasting and Television Academy is an academic society that is formed voluntarily by companies under the Guangzhou Broadcasting and Television System and professionals of broadcasting and television industry. It is a non-profit legal entity. The Academy is a member of Guangdong Broadcasting and Television Academic Association and China Broadcasting and Television Academic Association.

The Academy was established in September 09, 1989. There are eleven members in the academy. They are Guangzhou Radio, Guangzhou Television and the Broadcasting and Television Bureaus of counties and regions within the Guangzhou area and 210 individual members. Secretary department runs daily operation.

The agenda of the academy is to unite the Guangzhou Television and Broadcasting professionals and encourage combination of theory and practical experience to follow the principal of “Letting hundreds of followers to blossom and letting listening to hundred different voices”, and enhance a rich academic atmosphere; to improve members professional skills; to improve the quality of the TV program; to stimulate the reform and development of Television and Broadcasting industry; to encourage academic research and study of Television and Broadcasting, to promote theoretical study of Television and Broadcasting; to organize survey and collect information for leaders; to hold forums and seminars; to reward academic achievements; to publish news letter, academic papers and report of surveys; to affiliate training program for companies and training schools; to hold domestic and international academic activities.
