At the press conference, information relating to the purpose, scale, film entry situation, promotion and screening plans for the event were given to the media. Speeches were made by the president of GZTV Mr. Li Jinyuan, specially invited advisor Jenny Courtney, deputy chief editor of GZTV and the head of the jury Mr. Zhu Changze and the organizer of the pre-selection committee Mr. Wang Jianzhong. All the media representatives showed great interest in this forthcoming event and asked for further details of the festival and interviewed the speakers.

Other guests invited to attend the press conference were 13 consulates general who have been supporting this event, Mr. Li Liangzhou from Guangzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and representatives from France Culture Association and the American Chamber of Commerce. Sponsors including Guangzhou Travel Company and Dongfang Hotel also attended the conference.

A buffet supper and an impressive performance by the Guangzhou Puppet Ensemble were organized by GZTV for the guests which have left a long lasting memory for all of them.
