On October 5th 1993, China Academic Committee of Association, was found in Beijing at the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in order to raise the quality and artistic level of Chinese documentary workers and to strengthen academic exchange and cooperation of TV arts with the counterparts around the world.

China Academic Committee of Television Documentary is sole academic organization in China’s TV documentary circle. It has both group and individual members. With nearly 100 members at present. The group members includes CCTV, TV stations of major cities and provinces, the Central Newsreels and Documentary Film Studio, Beijing Broadcasting Institute, the Science and Educational Film Studio of China, People’s University of China of Journalism Institute and Shanghai Fudan University of Journalism Institute etc. The nearly 1,000 individual members, including achievements in teaching and research spreads all over the country. The nice works shows their strength, genre, level and style.

China Academic Committee of Television Documentary holds seminars, professional training courses and creative activities every year. It edits a manual and publishes journal, translates academic works and international documentaries, sends Chinese and international documentaries to TV stations of major cities and provinces.
