| 1. The Guangzhou International
Documentary Film Festival is open to any documentary film featuring
cultural heritage and concerning ancestral stories. In order to
be publicly screened, the programs will be received on BETACAM SP
videotape, PAL standard.
2. Each filmmaker is allowed to submit one or more entries but each
entry must be no longer than 90 minutes. It is recommended that
entries are submitted in English. Non-English submissions will be
subtitled by the festival organisers in English. and in Chinese.
Film selection is made by the festival organisers. There are no
entry fees.
3. Throughout the festival entries will be screened publically and
before an international panel of judges.
4. The jury will award seven prizes: a Grand Prize, a Jury Prize
and Special Prizes for innovation in style or content. The winners
will be announced on Closing Night.
5. In order to promote the event, organisers reserve the right to
use a short excerpt or still from any entry for electronic and print
media placement. In order to further promote the event, the organisers
request the rights to a single television broadcast. The organisers
consider that intellectual property is safeguarded by on-screen
logo placement at the time of broadcasting.

Applications should be accompanied by the following materials and
information:
- entry form (please use the attached form)
- technical entry form (please use the attached form)
- a full list of credits
- curriculum vitae of the director(s)
- a list of previous screenings
- three stills (for media release purposes)
- three iconographies ¨C slides 6x6 cm (for print media purposes
slides)
- a complete text of the programs narration and dialogues in the
original language
together with an English translation.
- the return address and a statement attesting to the film's replacement
stock value
7. Entrants considered eligible will be notified by email or fax
within 30 ** days of the
application being received. On receipt of an email or fax, entries
in the required
format should be sent to Grand Entertainment, before 30 September
2003. ***
8. The festival organizers will accept responsibility for storing
and insuring films between
receipt and their subsequent reshipment. All transport and insurance
costs associated
with reshipment will be met by the festival organizers. In the event
of loss or damage,
the liability of the festival organizers will be limited to the
replacement stock value.
9. Participation in 2003 Guangzhou International Documentary Film
Festival implies, complete acceptance of the conditions of these
rules. In the event of dispute, China courts shall have sole jurisdiction.
