2007 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival
Regulations for Competition

¡¡¡¡The theme for 2007 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival competition is ¡°Road to the Olympics¡±. Any documentary about athletes today or in the past who participate in summer, winter or special Olympic Games, or staff working for the organization of Olympic Games will be welcome to participate in 2007 GZ DOC competition. We look forward to receiving films about how anyone involved in Olympics challenge themselves, challenge difficulties and about their successes or failures.

¡¡¡¡GZ DOC 2007 jury for Competition shall consist of five senior professionals in the industry. Five jury prizes and five Chinese producer prizes will be awarded.

¡¡¡¡Please read carefully the following details in Competition regulation:

¡¡¡¡1£®Each filmmaker is allowed to submit one or more entries, which should meet the criterion that they primarily feature stories related to the Olympics. Chinese documentary films funded by non-official budget must apply through legally registered movie or television companies or related organizations. No entry fee is required.

¡¡¡¡2£®The maximum running time for each entry is 90 minutes. It is recommended that entries be submitted in English. All non-English entries must be subtitled or dubbed in English. For promotional purposes on television, print media & other electronic media, the organizers reserve the right to use short excerpts of no more than one minute from the entries and film stills received.

¡¡¡¡3£®Competition Entry Form (Form E) and sample film for pre-selection process should be submitted to the address below before Sep 30, 2007. Sample films submitted should be in DVD PAL format. Competition Entry Form (Form E) and related material can be obtained at www.gzdoc.com. Competition Entry Forms sent via email or fax are also acceptable. Please include every required item on the Competition Entry Form.

¡¡¡¡4£®Apart from the submission of sample tapes, applications should be done on line, by email or fax as follows:
¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ª Competition Entry Form (Please use Form E)
¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ª Three stills (for promotional brochures and news release, please send prints, slides or 5x7cm electronic pictures with 300dpi resolution)
¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ª A complete text of the program¡¯s narration and dialogues in its original language together with an English translation. (Please send electronic copy)
¡¡¡¡¡ª¡ª Return address and a statement attesting to the film's replacement stock value.
¡¡¡¡5£®Applicants with entries that have passed pre-selection will be informed by email between October 1 to October 15, 2007. Please send the screening version of the selected entry to Grand Entertainment (GZ) Company Ltd before October 31st. The screening format of entries shall be Betacam SP and Pal.

¡¡¡¡6£®The organizers will be held responsible for storing and insuring the Betacam tapes between their arrival at the Festival and their return shipment. All transport and insurance costs associated with the return shipment will be covered by the organizers. In the event of loss or damage, the organizers will be liable only for the replacement of the stock value. Such liability only applies to Betacam SP PAL tapes; DVDs are not included.

¡¡¡¡7£®By participating in GZDOC 2007, entrants signify their willingness to abide by the Regulations. Should any dispute arise, Chinese courts will have exclusive jurisdiction.
