2006 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival
Regulations for Competition



Any documentary with the theme of poverty caused by fate, natural environment, natural disasters, diseases or war and how people survive it with or without aid is welcome to register for competition.

Ten Awards will be presented.
Grand Prize(1): USD 5000
Jury Prize(1): USD 3000
Special Prize (3)£ºUSD 1000/each
Chinese Producer Prize (5): USD 1000/each

The awards will be announced at the Award Ceremony which will be broadcasted live through satellite TV.

Regulations for Competition:

1£®Each filmmaker is allowed to submit one or more entries, which should meet the criterion that they primarily feature ¡°Facing Poverty¡±. Chinese documentary films funded by non-official budget must apply through legally registered movie or television companies or related organizations. No entry fee is required.

2£®The maximum running time for each entry is 90 minutes. It is recommended that entries be submitted in English. All non-English entries must be subtitled or dubbed in English. Throughout the Festival, selected entries will be screened publicly and before a panel of international jurors. For promotional purposes on television, print media & other electronic media, the organizers reserve the right to use short excerpts of no more than one minute from the entries and film stills received.

3£®Competition Entry Form (Form A) and sample tapes for pre-selection process should be submitted to the following address before Oct 20, 2006. Sample tapes submitted should be in VHS, PAL standard. Competition Entry Form (Form A) and related material can be obtained at www.gzdoc.com, the website of GZDOC 2006. Competition Entry Forms sent via email or fax are also acceptable. Please include every required item on the Competition Entry Form.

5£®Entrants will be notified by email or fax between Oct. 1st and Oct. 20th. Upon receipt of the notifying email or fax, entrants should send their tape(s) for Competition screening to Grand Entertainment (GZ) Company Limited at the above address before October 31, 2006. Entries for Competition screening should be in Betacam SP, PAL standard.

6£®The organizers will be held responsible for storing and insuring the Betacam tapes between their arrival at the Festival and their return shipment. All transport and insurance costs associated with the return shipment will be covered by the organizers. In the event of loss or damage, the organizers will be liable only for the replacement of the stock value. Such liability only applies to Betacam SP PAL tapes; VHS tapes are not included.

7£®By participating in GZDOC 2006, entrants signify their willingness to abide by the Regulations. Should any dispute arise, Chinese courts will have exclusive jurisdiction.
